TOKY was listed as one of the city's "Great Places to Work" in St. Louis Magazine's January Issue. Staffers Kathy Sprehe and Meredith Maglinger are both pregnant. You figure it out.
Travis stumbled up a new book at Borders the other day, the handsome hardback "Best of Brochure Design". He cracked it open out of curiosity and -- surprise! -- inside is TOKY's work for EcoUrban Homes and the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis.
TOKY absolutely smoked in the new "1,000 Package Designs" from Rockport Books. We had 33 items accepted for publication, more than any other U.S. design firm (OK, except for Turner Duckworth). Our work for Bissinger's, Straub's, Smokehouse Market, the S. King Jewelry Collection and Eckert's were all prominently profiled.
TOKY got two winners in STEP Magazine's 2009 Design 100 competition. Both the 100 Woodfire Grille logo and the new Mackey Mitchell identity have been selected for publication. And our "Winter White" invitation for the Saint Louis Public Library's first ever gala was one of just a handful that has been voted in through the Reader's Choice category.
We've just heard that the Metro Board of Directors has finally awarded the contract for all the promotion, advertising and branding for the Arch, the Arch Museum and all the other properties (Old Courthouse, Old Cathedral, Helicopter Rides, and Riverfront) to the team of TOKY and Standing partnership.
Two of TOKY's client projects have been accepted for publication in the Type Directors Club annual review. Our Art The Vote logo and EcoUrban Homes brochure will be published in the upcoming TCD annual review of the best of the world's typography.
HOK.com received a 50 out of 50 - a perfect score - in the SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards, taking first place in the web site category. The National Marketing Communications Awards recognize the individuals and teams who create outstanding communication vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms. It is the only award that highlights the critical role and immense value marketing professionals bring to the design and building industry.
We've had six logos accepted into "LogoLounge 5", a compendium of the best logos around (or at least the best logos on LogoLounge.com).
Our identity and marketing for downtown St. Louis' Mercantile Exchange district has been selected for inclusion in GRAPHIS' "Branding 5" review of the world's best multi-media branding. Only a handful are even from the U.S.
TOKY has nine logos in Quayside Publishing's book "Really Good Logos Explained", including a Judge's Choice Award for a logo we did for the Pulitzer Foundation's WATER exhibit.
The site we designed a year or so ago for Sauce Magazine has finally launched. Very tasty! SauceMagazine.com
TOKY launched two sites for the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts recently:
Dan Flavin: Constructed Light and The Light Project
Our work for HOK.com wins a First place National Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Award! This annual competition is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industry.
ALIVE's All-Star Agency
TOKY's interactive team is featured in ALIVE magazine as one of St.Louis' "All-Star Agencies." The article profiles TOKY's work on the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts Web site.
We were included in the recently issued Communication Arts Photo Annual and Site of the Week for our work on Photogravure.com
Engineering a Better Brand
TOKY has launched a new site for Washington University Engineering. The site, designed by TOKY working with Perficient and WU's own back-end developers, organizes content for greater ease of use and profiles the students and faculty who have made this engineering school one of the most talked-about in the nation. TOKY has been developing the new Engineering brand for the past year, which includes a new identity, a print magazine and other collateral.
GRAPHIS Triple...no, make that Quintuple Crown Honoree

TOKY's work for The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza is honored in the GRAPHIS 2008 Design Annual. Our season ticket brochure for Opera Theatre is featured in GRAPHIS BROCHURES 6 and two Opera Theatre posters have been selected for inclusion in GRAPHIS POSTERS '07. We were just notified that logos for Opera Theatre and Downtown St. Louis' Mercantile Exchange will be in GRAPHIS LOGO DESIGN 7, and our identity system for Hill Investment Group won in GRAPHIS LETTERHEAD 7. And a quote from our loquacious TOKY founder appears on the back cover of GRAPHIS BROCHURES. Whew!
TOKY Brands Downtown, StL Post Raves
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch front-pages a "Downtown Turnaround," citing the launch of the Laurel condominiums and the Mercantile Exchange lifestyle district. TOKY branded both, from the Laurel's Web site, advertising, display center graphics and sales material to the gargantuan banners peppering downtown's vertical landscape.
The new HOK.com, designed by...well, you know
TOKY has launched the new Web site for one of the world's largest architectural firms, HOK. This site combines what had been more than 20 separate sites into a single sleek and elegant interface.
TOKY fixes up Art Fix with $20,000
TOKY was a lead sponsor for ART FIX, an art auction at our buds FK Photo studio. Art Fix raised almost $20,000 for Rebuilding-Together St. Louis, a world-changing organization dedicated to rehabbing homes for low-income families. A swell time was had by all.
5 in LogoLounge 4
Five logos designed for TOKY clients have been selected for publication in the newest Logo Lounge compendium, including our work for Butler's Pantry and Appistry. High-end catering and high-tech computing all in one book.
TIME, WIRED, and Brown
The Brown School of Social Work at Washington University was recently the subject of a top-to-bottom rebranding by TOKY. The magazine we designed for them was just a winner in the Design Annual of the Society of Publication Designers, the magazine design Oscars. We were on the same page as TIME and WIRED, which we all thought was pretty cool, although we suppose we shouldn't admit it.
TOKY site lauded by the TED Conference
TOKY-designed Photogravure.com was recently selected as one of the "100 sites you should know and use" by TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), the annual conference of the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers.
Photogravure wins in PDN Design Annual
Photogravure.com has been honored with inclusion in the PDN (Photo District News) Design Annual.
